1. TREATMENT FOR AORTIC DISSECTIONS
  • Aortic dissection is a critical, often fatal medical condition involving the main artery from the heart, the aorta. This condition occurs when a tear in the inner layer of the aorta causes blood to flow between the layers of the wall of the aorta, forcing the layers apart. Aortic dissections are categorised into two types based on their location:

Type A, which occurs in the part of the aorta coming out of the heart (ascending aorta).
Type B, which occurs in the lower part of the aorta (descending aorta).
Common symptoms include sudden severe chest or upper back pain, often described as a tearing sensation, along with shortness of breath, fainting, and symptoms of stroke. Prompt diagnosis is crucial, typically involving imaging tests like CT scans, MRI, or echocardiography.

The treatment offered for aortic dissection depends on the type and extent of the dissection.

Type A dissections are usually treated with emergency surgery to replace the affected part of the aorta. Pt should immediately to the nearest hospital for these purposes.
Type B dissections can be managed with medications to lower blood pressure and reduce the strain on the aorta, though surgery may be required in more severe cases.
Cardicure can offer you treatment and interventions for both Type A & B Aortic dissection, if they passed the acute phase (2-3 weeks). Acute Type A dissections in the proximity of London can be considered depending on the feasibility in special circumstances.
